George M. Stevenson passed away peacefully on January 20, 2023 at age 98. He was born in San Francisco on October 3, 1924 to Richard Graham Stevenson, II and Maria H. Stevenson.
George graduated from Holy Cross Catholic School and attended Cabrillo and Hartnell College. He served in the Army during World War II from 1943-1945. He fought in Normandy and was decorated with honors.
Throughout his life, George worked as a contractor contributing to the development of Folsom Dam, highways and bridges throughout California, and Sharps Army Depot.
George has spent time traveling in Europe, Oregon, Costa Rica and La Libertad, El Salvador. His hobbies were playing chess, cribbage, billiards, golfing, surfing, swimming, boating, fishing, hunting, painting, cooking, and dancing. He loved animals and spending time with his friends and loved ones.
He was affiliated with DeLaveaga, Pasatiempo, and was a member of the VFW, Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, Amblers Club, and Sons & Daughters of the American Revolution. He was the owner of The Pinestead Ranch and Fireside Lodge.
George is survived by his daughters Stephanie L. Stevenson-Jacobs and Susan C. Stevenson. He is preceded in death by his son Robert M. Stevenson and brother Richard G. Stevenson, III.
